I left a voice-mail message yesterday morning around 9-ish for the midwife who was in the office that day.
By 2:30 I hadn't heard back from her, so called and left another message.
By 7:00 or so, I STILL hadn't heard back, so paged the "team". (Team = 2 midwives and 1 student). With that, I finally got a call back - the student called and said that the on-call midwife (not the one who had office hours yesterday) was busy at the moment, but could she take notes to relay to her, and call back after speaking with the midwife. Sure - by this point I didn't much care WHO I spoke to, I was just freaking out.
I spoke with her for a few minutes, and then hung up so she could relay my info to the midwife. Not 5 minutes passed and the midwife called me back herself. Talking to her helped to reassure me a LITTLE bit, but not much. She thinks it may be this darn yeast infection I have (or the medication for it) that is causing the spotting, because the spotting is VERY small in amount, and red, and not constant.
Anyhow, with the extra spotting, she agreed to an ultrasound - probably more because I specifically asked for it. The worry is starting to affect my day-to-day life, and my interactions with my kids (worries like - is picking up Owen hurting the baby, is Heather nursing more than my system can take this time, etc).
SO - onto the aggravation of trying to book an ultrasound this morning
First place I called - local - didn't want to book me without having the requisition form already (midwife said to let them know WHERE I'd booked so I could get the form). Then, they couldn't book me for over a week !
So, I called the hospital my midwives have privledges at, and the as I'm talking, Heather hits her mouth on something (a toy - I couldn't see what) and cut her lip. The 'lady' on the other end of the phone tells me "I can't hear you - put that baby down". Okay, fine - she likely couldn't hear me, my girl was crying in pain !! Then I hear "Isn't there anyone else you can give that baby to right now?" I hung up.
Got Heather calmed down and nursing and called back - thankfully talked to someone else, and was able to get an appointment booked for this Thursday afternoon.
Now for the trick - DH will have to either book a 1/2 day off or call in sick. He's out of sick time though - so either way, it'll mean unpaid time off for him. But I need him to come because someone has to watch the kids.
