Newest Nephew isn't circed!!

I'm sitting here holding my youngest nephew who was born about a year ago. Dh and I passed a lot of info along to SIL. She was having her 6th baby, and her first homebirth. We were really hoping that they would leave the baby intact if it was a boy. SIL was a nurse that worked in a nursing home and insisted on circ for hygine reasons....her first 2 sons are circed.

Anyway, when the baby was born they found out he had Down's. I really prayed that they didn't circ him. I never asked SIL if they did or not. Well. I'm babysitting him for the first time, and after the first diaper change I'm happy to report that they left him intact. :

I'm sure that the Down's had a lot to do with it. There were a lot of questions in the beginning over weather he had a heart defect or not....and he doesn't. He does have problems with some very small but bothersome seizures that are mostly under control now. She could have him circed if she wanted to, but she hasn't. I doubt she would do it now.

I know that the info we gave her at least helped her to be comfortable with him being intact and to know about proper infant intact care.

I probably won't say anything to her. I normally just give out info, discuss it a little and let it go. After that I really don't want to know what they decide. I have been pleasantly suprised many times over.
