At my DS's well-baby check up today (2 years old) the dr. retracted the foreskin. I was shocked (not because I thought it was wrong for the dr to do, but because of the screams that came out of my son's mouth) and walked out feeling angry and sad that DS was hurt. I don't know much about the intact penis. I read the sticky above about dr's retracting the foreskin, and now I'm ever so mad and will not let it happen again.
My question is, when does the foreskin typically retract on it's own? When do I have to (or tell DS to) start cleaning it? Is there ever a need for "intervention" to forcibly retract it? The doctor said something about it being to tight and causing bladder problems because urine can back up into the bladder from a too tight foreskin. Seriously?
I won't ever let anyone do that to DS again. I'm off to have a good cry about DS's experience today.

. Seperation of the foreskin can happen anywhere from babyhood to teenage years. As long as your child pees normally, there is nothing you need to do.

: him retracting it tho can cause bacteria to get in there were he tore things loose.
Keep a close eye out for infection chances are he will be fine tho. I am sorry ur son was hurt.
