This seems to be my Hot button. The thing that sets me off the most is when DD hits DS just b/c she doesn't like what he's doing. It doesn't happen often but Man when it does all my GD goes out the window. So I need ideas on what to do. Thanks

This book feels good in your hands. The paper is heavyweight, and the illustrations flow perfectly.

May not be a popular choice here, but I do a modified time out. The logical consequence here, IMO, is for the hitter to be separated from others, and the hittee to be consoled.

I'll be watching this thread carefully. We have some similar issues with DS, 3.9 mos., and DD, 18 mos. He doesn't exactly hit her, but he shoves her, walks by roughly and knocks her over, generally is not as careful as he could be. Sometimes pinches.
I have resorted to modified time outs on occasion, although I don't feel totally happy with it. I put the gates up and they have to be in separate rooms. I tell him that he can't be near her until he is ready to be gentle. I have to protect her....it's not fair for her to be assaulted like that! And I can't be down on the floor with them every single second playing policeman. I try to give him adequate time and attention to mitigate the jealousy issue (which I'm sure is part of it). But sometimes it doesn't seem to help.
We do a lot better when the weather is good and we can get outside and run, or if we have a full schedule for the day. Staying indoors = trouble. It's gonna be a long winter...I'll be interested to hear what others say.
