I have just returned to work full time and will be working at a daycares summer program for ages 5-12. I am SUPER excited about this! I started this week and have been putting gentle discipline to work and its SO neat!
Myself and another girl are in charge of putting together a discipine plan for the summer... as wells as a rewards system...
I don't really want to have a discipline plan, but we will have to have some rules... but what should they BE?? i want the kids to help write them and stick to thier rules.
I really think the only non-negotiable should be safety... physcial and emotional...
so nothing that may hurt another persons body or feelings is negotiable..??
But I just wonder if I need more than that to manage such a large group?
Are there any books on this? I have found some web info, but not quite what iI'm looking for....

I would like to offer weekly rewards or bi-weekly for the kids.... like a movie... or they can bring in thier own CD's...
Also I would like to notice the good behvoir and make a big deal about that... giving out cards... getting thier parents involved....

Another thing is that it IS a large group.. like 25 kids... and there is going to be noise and roudyness... maybe some running around...
Is that really that bad?? I mean they're just being kids...
I figure as long as they are listening when they should be .. like story time... or announcements... some yelling isn't a big deal...

SO... I'm hoping you mammas have advice... ideas... for me!!

Thanks!
