Ok...So how old is the oldest nursling you know? Or have heard of??

I am curious... I miss my nursing relationship, and was wondering what is the oldest child you have known or heard of nursing. I know I saw a siggy on here once that mentioned a daughter self weaning at age 7.

Is that a record??

I can't imagine it's a record. We met a wonderful 7 year old on a trip that instantly bonded with my dd and played and played with her. She was still nursing.

The oldest I have heard of is 8. My sister nursed her son regularly until he was 5, although he still asked for it when he was 7 (and she had two younger children who had dibs)

The oldest nursling I know personally was weaned when he turned 5.

The oldest I've known IRL was 5, but online I've heard of 8 yr. olds nursing. I assume there are nurslings older than 8 around somewhere.

IRL I have the oldest nursling. Online, I know a few of my old birthclub mamas who are still nursing. Online though, I know here at MDC I've seen some mention 8 year olds.

IRL, the oldest nursling I know of is my son, and a friend of my son's who is six months older, and a pair of twins who are somewhere in between. All are around 4 - 4 1/2 years old.

On MDC I know of a couple who were at least seven years old.

My father met someone in chiropractic school who told him nursed until she was 12! Believe it or not! He said she was top in the class...

I knew a woman who nursed her oldest for 6 or 7 years (she wouldn't say exactly, but I figured it out from various clues in various conversations.) She told me she'd met a man who was nursed until he was 9.

I've also known 40yo "nurslings" but that's not quite the same thing.

IRL, the eldest nursling I personally knew was 4¾y. But I know of a mama and child who nursed until the child was 7y in our community.

my dd was 5.5yr when I considered her weaned. She'll be 6 the end of the summer and is down to once a month (last time was Mother's Day morning, she had a stomach bug all weekend)

The oldest nursling I have known IRL was around 5.25 when weaned. Hmmm, I've actually known three children who weaned/were weaned shortly after 5.

It's beginning to look like DS will be the oldest nursling I know IRL.

The oldest i've known personally was around 6, but here on MDC I think I've met moms who nursed til 8 and I've heard from my LLL leader of an instance of a 10 yr old nursling.

oldest I've known is some of the LLL mom's toddlers - 2 or 3. Prior to that it was my sister whom my mom nursed til 22 months.

Oldest I've heard of was a 10 yr old.
