Anyone foster/adopt after having CPS called on them?

DH & I had CPS (I think called DCFS in some other states) called on us by a NICU doctor for removing our DD from the hospital AMA after she was born. He wanted her hospitalized and on STRONG antibiotics for 2 weeks and couldn't provide a single test result that said she had any kind of infection that warranted it. He called CPS and said that she was septic and that we refused further medical care. Not really true as we had consulted a pediatric nurse and two pediatricians before taking her home and had an appt w/our ped that week. blah, blah, blah... Anyway, they case was "closed" and "no further investigation is warranted".

Here we are 18mos later and wanting to begin our journey into foster parenting/adoption ~ and we're worried that no one will even talk to us when they find out. Has anyone BTDT???

I wouldnt worry too much!

We had dcfs/cps called on us a couple times actually when my dd was a baby. She has special needs and was a VERY irritable baby and spent most of the day and night crying. There was nothing we could do for her, it was neurological, but of course other people didnt know that so dcfs got called.

We had someone come out, and like your situation the case was closed with no further investigation needed. When we decided to start foster to adopt, we mentioned it to the worker who was doing our homestudy, and she had to ask us a bunch of questions about it, fill out some form, and then that was the end of it. It hasnt come up since! Now, we have our baby girl who is soon to be adopted

Good luck to you!
