My new baby trick

This may be old hat to some of you, but it was a brand new discovery for me! For the last week or so DD has been able to sit propped up by a Boppy pillow with a few pillows beneath it. So...I just realized that if I fill a small basket up with toys and objects, she will happily play with it for quite awhile. She picks up differents toys out of it and I don't have to keep bringing her different things. Although I do have to re-prop her every so often.

Pretty cool! What a big girl that Kali is!

I remember exactly when DS1 did this, and it was such a cool milestone. It hadn't even crossed my mind to try it with Will...

wow that's great! ava still does stiff-legs too often, where she just stiffens up while sitting so that she basically slides down and is lying on her back, pissed off. : i'm hoping she'll grow into that skill soon, though.

I'll have to try that! Drew is sitting pretty well if he has some sort of support around him -- like my legs. The basket and boppy combo sounds promising.

so you put the boppy in the basket?

omg! thank you for posting this! i just put E in the laundry basket with a blanket on the bottom and his boppy with toys and he is having a great time...he is choosing the toys he likes the best (which is really cool to me, b/c how the heck do I know what toys he *really* likes).

so cool...im going to post pix tomorrow!

I can't do this with Titus anymore because he tries to leave!
He will lean all the way forward, hard and try to get on his tummy. Silly, silly baby

Ethan is one of hte youngest in the DDDC b/c he was born 1/1, so i have a few more weeks of helplessness i guess. it was really cute...cant wait to get the pix uploaded!

omg ok i didn't get that at all at first. thanks for the clarification, rachel. LOL i'm gonna put her in the basket today! hm...i could probably put her in her moses basket too. although that's sorta floppy. hm. anyway, i'm on it!!

the first one

dont mess with my toys!

im serious!

if they dont work, they are on my blog (in my siggy)

this is such a great idea! dh was on the bed beside him, so dont think i just left him there like that. but wow! i love the bumbo but the thing i dont like is that he always drops his toys and there is no mechanism for keeping them in his hands. this is such a great idea (and you dont have to buy another baby thing....we already have baskets, toys and a boppy!). i do have a pretty thick blanket (a down throw) in the bottom though, b/c i dont think the basket is that comfy!

This is so funny - I actually didn't put my baby IN the basket, but now I will!!! one good idea generates another....

I was putting the boppy on the floor with a little wicker basket in front of her (8"x18"???) and filling that with toys!! I think I will try the laundry basket or Moses basket next!

You guys are the best! What a great idea. I tried it with Elliot this morning... he didn't last *too* long, but I'm going to try it again soon.

Here he is a bit unsure of the basket...

That's too funny! I read this post on Saturday night, and thought you meant IN the basket too!

I tried it with Drew in a laundry basket while we watched a movie. He loved it! I sat him at one end of the basket with a blanket behind and under him, then put the boppy (we have one of the little tummy-time ones) around his middle. He reached and played and chewed for a long time. So sweet.

You know, you could totally market this idea...
