First: Congrats to all the new mommas and babies! i can't believe how many babes are on the welcome thread! How Wonderful!

Bradyn Christopher was born on May 17, at 11:11pm, 7lbs 15oz, 21"

Here's the story, as short as possible:

I'd been having ctx off and on for about two weeks (yeah ) so when they started up on wed. morning, i tried not to pay too much attention. however, these kept coming no matter what i was doing, and they were fairly regular at 10-15 min apart, 45ish sec long. after noon, i started paying attention. they were very light and mildly uncomfortable, but still coming. i called my mom who lives 45min away, and was supposed to keep dd overnight when i gave birth. anyway, i put her on "high alert" that this might be the day.

my parents came at 6pm to pick dd up, ctx were just over 5 min apart, and still very mild. at this point we were thinking that baby wouldn't be born until sometime thursday. after my parents left, and i knew dd was safe and secure, suddenly the ctx got much closer together, and stronger. by 8pm they were 5min, 60 sec. i got in the tub. i was still joking and talking with dh, and still hadn't seen any sign of mucus plug or bloody show. by 9pm they were 3min, 60sec. and i was losing faith in myself fast...yikes transition! dh called the mw who said come to the hospital NOW (after listening to my deep, loud moaning over the phone). hospital is about 30min away, and it took a long time to get me in teh car, as i only had a two min rest inbetween (they were incredibly intense and this piont...i was seriously in major self-doubt, crying, and certain i was not dilating, since i still had no signs of blood or mucus. ) we arrived at the hospital at exactly 10pm, but then had to hike across the hospital to L&D, which is normally a 5 min walk...took us over 15 (kept stoping every two min to have a 1min ctrx). we arrive at L&D, and they want us to stop in triage to make sure i was really in labor! i had 2 ctrx just trying to take my shoes off to get into the gown so they could check my cervix...: the nurses decided i must really be in labor, so they took me right to my room, whcih luckily had the wireless monitor...i wanted to get right in the tub. i was 7cm. i had a few more ctx and suddenly started pushing involuntarily. the nurse did a little freak, since mw still hadn't arrived yet, and ordered me out of hte tub so they could check me again. mw walked in at this point, checked me,a nd gave me the go-ahead. i was panting and losing control with the trying not to push. it took 4 pushes for him to enter the world, and only a tiny tear (skid mark). mw broke my water while i was pushing (to makesure there was no meconium) he was born a little over an hour after arriving at the hospital.

all in all, it was at least an 11 hour labor, but i did about 90% of the work in about three hours. it was the most intense, overpowering, overwhelming experience of my life. dd's birth was so slow to build, i was able to stay on top of everything...i felt so out ofcontrol with this one! i was seriously considering an epi, and if he hadn't come so fast, i may have gotten one. i'm so happy i didn't, but i wouldn't have felt guilt if i had.

he's nursing great, and loves to be held...a major cuddle-bug!

Congrats again to all the other new babies, and those who are still waiting are in my thoughts!
