Bright red blood at 1.5 weeks PP?

This is probably TMI but it's been concerning me lately so I figured I'd ask.

After Kiara was born I hemmoraged quite a bit, ended up needing a shot of Pitocin and an IV because I was pretty out of it. My bleeding went down quickly and for 4 days after it was very minimal, pinkish-clear. Then I made the mistake of doing too much (load of laundry, took out garbage, walked around the hosue a bunch), and started bleeding bright red for 1.5 days on and off. So back to bed for me. Since then I've been totally restting, occasionally wandering down to the living room or kitchen, but not much. 2 nights ago I woke up feeling like I was bleeding a lot, and I was. I had soaked a pad and was still bleeding. I changed my pad went back to bed and it was fine, more or less stopped. Then the same thing happened yesterday evening, and then again last night. Today on and off I've been bleeding heavy at times and not at all other times. Its always bright red now. Last time it wasalmost like a faucet, but then suddenly stopped and nothing since.

I thought by now this heavy bleeding shouldve stopped, and the red should be changing to pink then brown. And why would it be so heavy at times and not others, especially in the night? I can't rest much more than I am, andDH will start work soon so I won't get to rest much more. I've been taking Floradix still and eating healthy, and drinking plenty.

Is this normal? I didn't have this with either of the boys, it was only heavy for a day or two, and then pink after that.

I would talk to your midwife about it. I know i also had some hemmoraging (sp?) and got a shot of pitocin afterwards as well, and was also surprised at how long I was bleeding for. I would say I didn't get only brown discharge until 5 or 6 weeks. This may be normal for this pregnancy. I know it seems like more at night when you get up because the blood sort of "pools" and then when you stand it floods out. HTH

Thanks. Good to know that I don't need to expect brown only discharge right away.

The blood pooling at night is weird because it's not when I stand up. I get up often to pee, so I'll get up at say 4am to pee and have no bleeding, then around 5am I'll wake up because I feel like I"m bleeding a lot, and sure enough I am (before I even stand up).
