Could this be it?

Just wondering if anyone here has gone into labour w/out having dropped or lost their mucous plug?

I'm 40w 3d and for the last couple of hours have been having some light contractions (w/lower back pain) about every 10min. I haven't had any bh contrax up till now so that's why these little contraction are making me wonder if this could be it. I dont think the baby has dropped and I haven't lost any mucous that I'm aware of.

Just wanting some opinions I guess

ETA: also the baby is still moving around a lot... is this typical right before labour starts? Or do they usually calm down and stop moving when they are getting ready to come out?

With both of my births, I didn't notice losing my mucus plug. Later, when labor was really going and my cervix started dilating, I had bloody show--but I've never had mucus beforehand that I remember. So yup, this could be it for you! It sounds promising. Even if it stops or turns out to be pre-labor, your body is definitely working to get baby and cervix in position to help that babe be born. Good luck!

My labor was much like undercover hippie. My bloody show/plug didn't happen until after I had been in labor a few hours.

Mama! This is awesome, I think you might be in labor. Try to rest (haha yeah right) But seriously lay down if you can comfortably, don't expend too much energy. Have something light to eat, and enjoy this excitement.

Let us have an update when you can I'll be thinking about you.

I didn't notice a mucous plug loss till my third baby, sounds like labor or labor-prep. Either way you're making progress

Well I'm still having ctx about 10 min. apart. Nothing painful yet though and I'm sitting at home alone bored to tears. Just did some laundry and dishes and was contimplating taking the dog for a walk . Thank you artgodess for reminding me that now would be a good time to try and rest/sleep. I guess I am just too excited and not wanting to slow things down by getting too comfortable. I think I'm going to give my mw a call just to check in, then try to take a nap. I'll update in a little while. Thanks ladies!

Okay how lame am I...

I can't find my midwife's phone #

My husband has it programed into his cell phone, but I don't really want to call him at work just yet because he will probably want to come right home. GRrRR darn my disorganization I guess I'll keep looking for it.

Maybe you could call him to ask what her # is. Tell him you lost the # and want to have it on hand just in case. Blame it on placenta brain or something.

YEp, me too. The baby dropped about 20 hours into labor and I lost the plug a bit after.

I've never noticed losing my mucous plug, and I've never experienced having a baby noticably drop either.

On and off contax that are 10 minutes apart may be the start of labor (or it may not be...) In any case, good luck

UPDATE

Well it's been 24 hours now and I'm still haveing pretty regual contractions every 10-15 min. They have been getting more intense over the course of the day, and I lost part of my mucous plug! I am a little surprised because I honestly was expcting to go 2 or 3 weeks late, but I think this baby will be here in the next couple of days

I'm pretty nervious, but not about labour, mostly just about actually having a baby to care for!

Oh this is so exciting!

Don't worry mama, DP and I were completely freaked about caring for a baby. We didn't have a clue, I didn't even find MDC until months after he was born. And against those odds, he lived! You're going to do a great job, I can feel it.
