Wondering, could the diff. in pain relief during birth between US and other countries

affect our infant mortality rate? I don't have any hard statistics right now, I was just thinking that one major diff, along with more midwives between US and UK is that US depends a lot on epi's while UK has other methods. Just lame suppositioning.

I wholeheartedly believe that... My second son was perfectly healthy and fine throughout my entire labor--until the doctor told me I needed pitocin 24 hours after my water broke. Of course, the pitocin was a $#^@! so I ended up with an epi--his heartrate (and my blood pressure) crashed shortly afterwards. The pitocin was probably the reason his cord was compressed... I think he had a good chance of being born alive without intervention...(or with a c-section since the interventions were already started).

I think it has a lot to do with induction and not letting them develop fully in utero. Ob's can't wait to cut em out of there.
