Poppy is here!

Well, after going 10 days past my due date, attempting every natural induction method in the book and eventually having to suck it up and get a repeat c-section I am thrilled to announce the arrival of Poppy Elizabeth on May 18th weighing in at 9lbs, 9 oz

We just got out of the hospital yesterday, as we have been having feeding problems and my supply just isn't coming up. We have started domperidone, pumping every 3 hours and supplementing with an SNS. I am absolutely exhausted. We have to wake her up every 3 hours to eat, and feeding her then pumping takes 1.5 hours alone.

She is very cute, and has lots and lots of dark hair. So far, now that she is actually getting food she mostly just sleeps but appears to be about as mellow and relaxed as her big brother.

I'm going to be starting to use the SNS on Sunday morning, 24 hours after my last dose of antibiotics. I'm really confused about how the baby will wean from the sns. Do you understand it? Could you clue me in or maybe point me to where I can find SNS help?

Thanks everybody! She really is a cutie.

As for weaning off the SNS, i haven't really thought that far ahead. With DS, we used an SNS for a week until it we just gave up and switched to a bottle. This time, we are attacking the problem a little more agressively, so hopefully I will actually have to figure out how to cut down on the SNS feedings. I think we will just gradually cut down on the number of oz per day she takes from the SNS. Right now, we are not limiting her formula/EBM because she needs to gain the weight back.
