First trip w/ baby...

Ok, we're going to Big Pine (kinda near Mammoth mountain) this weekend, and was wondering if any of you ladies could give me some advice on what to take with me and what to do to keep baby hydrated. I know being up in the high altitude you have to make sure he's not dehydrated, etc....any advice? Thanks

you shouldnt have to give him anything if he's exclusively breastfed. the concern would be you and making sure you get the extra water you will need.

No, I'm not b'feeding, he's on Enfamil. I was just wondering mainly about him becoming dehydrated being in such high altitude.

From my understanding babies under the age of six months (both BF & FF) don't need any water supplementation. The altitude shouldn't make a difference. http://www.kellymom.com/nutrition/so...aby-water.html

i've never heard about high altitudes leading to dehydration.... we go up to the mountains often (not too far of a drive from here to climb -- via vehicle -- an extra 4,000 ft above our already 4100 ft above sea level). We've never had any issues.

we live in florida at sea level, and hiked up a mountain (6000 ft tall), 4000 ft above the land in washington with our 6 month old who is used to 0 ft and everyone was fine. I breastfed on a mountain

oh and seeing as formula is mixed with water i think it should be fine.
