Does anyone know the answer?

I'm on an elimination diet because my daughter had mucous in her stool (7 weeks old) starting at about 4 weeks old and green stool starting at 2 weeks old. I cut out dairy when she was 2 weeks and tried reintroducing it at 4 weeks and that is when the mucous started. I am now NOT eating:
-wheat
-soy
-dairy
-beef
-chicken
-gassy vegtables
-strawberries
-seafood

I've been doing this for 5 days and I saw improvement the first day. The mucous is pretty much gone except for the occasional slightly present mucous (maybe 1 poop out of 10). My question is, I know they say dairy proteins in particular take a long time to get out of your system so does that mean that there may be mucous in her stool from time to time while it gets out of my breastmilk? Is that normal? Or does it mean she still has an allergy to something I'm eating.....

Your opinions/info would be greatly appreciated!

It's hard to say. I would try cutting eggs and nuts. THey are far far more common than gassy veggies. As you can see from my sig, Liam has plenty of allergies. His first solid food was broccoli.

Five days is actually still really early for *any* allergen, particularly dairy. So, if you've seen a dramatic improvement, I would cautiously assume that, somewhere on your list, you've eliminated the right food(s). I would contine on the same diet for another 2 or 3 weeks and then add in one food at a time, probably starting with the beef or chicken. Watch for about two weeks before adding in another food, and gradually progress to the veggies. It's a long, slow process but so worth it!

Wow! Good for you! I thought I had it bad when I had to eliminate dairy from my diet.

I can't remember if ds still had the mucosy poos, but behavior-wise it did take 3-4 weeks after eliminating the dairy to see the total improvement. And I've noticed that after I've tried re-introducing dairy it does take about a week or so for his symptoms to clear (he's almost 2 now and doesn't react as strongly as when he was a babe). Hang in there!!

We had the green, mucousy poos and so far we know eggs are on the bad list and dairy seems to be ok. Haven't tried eliminating anything else yet--I did them one at a time.
