How many days post-O would US show PG?

I'm undergoing infertility evaluation and I'm scheduled for an abdomino-pelvic ultrasound this afternoon. How long after ovulation would a pregnancy show up? Would it have to be long enough for a HPT to work, or would it show earlier?

You need to be about 6 weeks past lmp or about 4 weeks past ovulation for the u/s to show cardiac activity. Maybe a week sooner at about 3 weeks post ovulation you could see a yolk sac. In other words, your hpt should be positive a week or two before the u/s shows anything.

Most things say that with a GOOD u/s machine, GOOD u/s tech or doc performing the u/s, and a VAGINAL probe being used, your HCG levels need to be a minimum of about 1000 to show a gestational sac. This level of HCG is typically seen by 4.5 to 5 weeks LMP.

When the HCG climbs a bit higher, closer to 5-5.5 weeks LMP, you're likely to see a yolk sac within the gestational sac.

Somewhere between 6-7 weeks LMP, you can typically see a heartbeat and fetal pole.

All of these dates assume of course that you ovulated on cd14, so you'd have to adjust things accordingly if you O earlier or later than that.

Considering the average HPT on the market right now picks up between 25-50 units of HCG, obviously you'll test + WELL before an u/s will show anything within the uterus.
