Is this true? I just found this on nurseherenow.com. I'm specifically wondering about MA. Anyone know where I can find laws specific to each state?

Thirty-two states allow mothers to breastfeed in any public or private location (California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Oregon, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, Utah, Texas, Vermont and Virginia).
Fifteen states exempt breastfeeding from public indecency laws (Alaska, Florida, Illinois, Michigan, Montana, Nevada, New Hampshire, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Rhode Island, South Dakota, Utah, Virginia, Washington and Wisconsin).

There are now only a very few states, maybe 5 or 6, that don't have specific breastfeeding legislation. I would do a google search for MA berastfeeding law.

To bad you are not alone, Idaho has no such laws either (they tried to pass one ine 2003 I beleive but it was defeated). At least BF mothers are exempt from Jury Duty.

Not here in MA, sadly. There are no laws currently on the books in MA to protect nursing mothers.

Here's what I found on LLL's site. Pathetic.

http://www.lalecheleague.org/Law/Bills22a.html

The only legislation in Massachusetts regarding breastfeeding pertains to maternity patients’ right to know the annual percentage of women breast-feeding upon discharge from their admitting hospitals. M.G.L - Chapter 111, Section 70E Patients' and residents' rights (not reproduced here).

And pending legislation. Looks like mom's need to start bugging their reps to get their tushies in gear and pass it,

There are currently bills pertaining to breastfeeding pending in Massachusetts.

The following does not yet have a bill number. See: http://www.mass.gov/legis/bills/house/ht01/ht01782.htm

SECTION 1. Section 16 of chapter 272 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 1998 Official Edition, is hereby amended by adding the following sentence:— The act of breast-feeding a child shall not be considered a violation of this section.

SECTION 2. Section 53 of said chapter 272, as so appearing, is hereby amended by adding the following sentence:— The act of breast-feeding a child shall not be considered a violation of this section.

SECTION 3. Said chapter 272 is hereby further amended by inserting after section 98C the following section:—
Section 98D. Notwithstanding any other provisions of law, any person who is breast-feeding a child shall be entitled to any and all accommodations, advantages, facilities and privileges of all public conveyances, public amusements and places of public accommodation, within the commonwealth, to which other persons are entitled. Whoever deprives any person who is breast-feeding, of any right conferred by this section shall be punished by a fine of not more than three hundred dollars and shall be liable to any person aggrieved thereby for such damages as are set forth in section five of chapter one hundred and fifty-one B; provided, however, that such civil forfeiture shall be of an amount not less than one hundred dollars.
