Not a post about baby

Its seems that everyone is posting about their baby now, but I happen to have a problem with myself.

Before I got in the shower today I was checking over myself in the mirror. I saw a dark bluish mark above my butt crack and went I went to feel it I felt an indentation like crevice. But thats not the weirdest part.. While palpating this, I ran my hands across and over the mark, I couldn't really feel myself touching my body. It wasn't numbness, just a significant lack of feeling in that area. Kind of like when you get surgery and you touch your skin while the anethesia is wearing off.

Could this have something to do with me getting the epidural during my labor? Or the fact that I split my sphincter in two??

i dont know if it has anything to do with having an epi, but i had 2 (one with each of my c/s's) and i dont have any feelign on the entry site of the epis. i dont remember having a bruise though...but that could just be b/c i didnt look back there...dont know.
do you see a MW or reg. doc? if so, i would call and ask them about it.
sorry im not more help

Hmmm...

I've never heard of anything like it. I avoid the medical profession like the plague, but this would be something that would make me set up an appt.

I didn't know you had such a traumatic birthing

Yea, it wasn't that great of an experience for me. I was in labor for 15 hours on pitocin and split from front to back. It took her thirty minutes to stitch me up rom the inside out, while the epidural was wearing off so I got to feel the last few stitches... There's tons more I can go on about, but I've accepted it and don't want to rehash old wounds again. It all could have been avoided if I hadn't gotten induced. At least thats my opinion.

Only problem now is, I got laid off from my job for not being paid for over 40 days.. So I no longer have health insurance and a trip to the doc costs some serious money that we don't have...

no idea what that could be, but big to you. hope you figure it all out soon. maybe someone in the "health and healing" forum might know.

Oh, mama, I'm just so sorry... about the birth, about the insurance, about everything!

I second the advice to head over to health and healing.

Thank all you ladies for the hugs and support. I will be posting this in Health & Healing to see what they have to say....

There is one thing that I can do to get health insurance and that is to legally marry my boyfriend, since the state won't give it to me. BUT. he doesn't want to do that. he feels like its "ass-backwards" But he's going to do it eventually anyway, we've already picked out and started paying for my engagement ring... But thats a whole other thread.

So I talked to my mother today and she said she had the exact same thing happen to her. Apparently its a run in the family type thing. She said it's happened after every birth she's had an epidural with (4). I also called the doctor today and the nurse said its perfectly normal to have numb spots for up to a year after giving birth with an epi.

Thank you all for your help. I really do appreciate it.
