Thoughts/actions that helped you most during your labor? - Page 2

Doula! Don't rule this out unless you are on your way to the hospital today!

That being said...reasurances that my baby was doing great really helped and just having my MW and doula hanging out and chatting together really helped for some reason. It made labor just seem sorta "normal" like if they could carry on a conversation through it it must not be that big of a deal, kwim?

quote from by birth story...

With both prior deliveries when I get to the stinging (you girls know what I mean!) I would start to fight...no no no...didn’t want to push….wanted it away...wanted it to stop! This time I decided ok! Forget that, when that stinging happens I know that means baby is coming and soon! All I have to do is push like crazy and the baby will get here...scream through it and be done!!
So back to BC...Stinging started and I told BF NO, then in my mind said..ok..here we are...get it done! Or in the south we say GIT R DONE!!...

when the stinging starts, scream low and push like h*ll!!!

good luck!!

EXACTLY! And what helped for me also was that I kept trying to find a way "around" the burning. Finally, I just envisioned the "ring" and pushed with all my strength straight through the center of it... and screamed, of course! Don't try to work around it, there is no around, you gotta be brave and aim for the center.

ohhh that too! about the ring of fire (crowning!) ~

with my son's birth, my main thought during crowning was "nooooooooooooOOOOOOoooo! no! no!"

whereas with my daughter, i was wrapped up in these awesome primal screams, and with all of my being i was yelling "OUT baby OUT!"

my son took SO long to come out... but my daughter was out without me even trying, it just happened, and happened FAST.

and OMG i have to add this because it's so cute. : !! birth !! :

Several things helped me have a wonderful, peaceful birth of a 10 lb baby:

1. Prayer-a good friend came and laid her hands on me and prayed. It was an instant relaxer.

2. Being upright the whole time-I stood and leaned over a laundry hamper. Felt great.

3. Birthing dance-during contractions I swayed my hips in a figure 8 pattern and it helped a LOT.

4. Being alone and trusting the process. I didn't want anyone around me and no touching me or talking during contractions. During pushing, I DID want people there-I needed a gentle cheering section. This is a very personal choice, though.
