i was at my parents this weekend and forgot to bring my quilt patches to piece together, so i made a couple of dresses for my 16month old instead.
thought i would show them off :-)
now i just need to come up with something that my 7 year old will wear...

Look at what i made

if this link doesnt work just go to:

and go to the "look at what i made" folder

Very cute!! I'm not crafty nor do I have a little girl to dress up - I'm very envious!

I agree with everything Jane said. I wish I could do something like that though I would make myself some skirts for church.

Gorgeous gorgeous gorgeous! (more)

I'd like one for myself it's so pretty! (I love purples!)

Your older daughter might like a dress made with a t shirt on the top and the patchwork for the skirt or maybe a patchwork bag?

My girls are 3 and 5 and if one gets a new dress the other one wonders where her dress is? LOL!

Warmly,
Debra

How did you do it? I can sew using a pattern, but I have never quilted or anything. ALso, are they lined?

you dont have to know how to quilt for this fabric :-D
you buy it already pieced together, how cool is that?
these jumpers that are shown are not lined (since we line in the south i wanted to make them as lightweight as possible so lylly wouldnt burn up in the summer), i have lined the others i have made just not these :-)

as for making your own patchy fabric, its not hard (just takes me awhile bc i have the 17 month old) you just cut the blocks whatever size you want (plus 1/4th for the seam) and then sew them together until you have enough fabric to cut out the pattern.
HTH!

Do you use a rotary cutter when you make your own patches or regular scissors?

i use a rotary cutter, i would go nuts if i tried cutting them with regular snips. if you have the money, invest in a good rotary cutter!

Last summer my seven year old lived in a pair of overalls that had bottoms that looked like old-fashioned bloomers. The were tight-ish around the knees but loose around the bum and they had a bodice like on your dresses. She loved them because she could do somersaults without her undies showing but they were cool and comfy and cute as well.
