I always provide a selection of snacks for "arranged" playdates, after checking with parents about allergies and such. We have a couple of neighbor boys who practically live at our house in the afternoons these days, and I automatically put out snacks for all of the kids at snacktime. I figure, if the grandparents (who they live with) don't care if they are here for 3-4 hours at a stretch, then they aren't going to care what sort of snack they get. I do, however, send them home if they happen to be around at mealtimes, despite requests to stay. I can do snacks, but not extra meals!

I do a lot of pretzels, homemade chex mix, some cookies (but not much), popcorn, grapes, watermelon.
