I am wondering if this is bad. I am 10 weeks along. And I have not been to 1 prenatal appointment yet. My question is,...for the past week and a half I have been having really dark BM(bowel movements). Almost black and sometimes dark, dark green. I also have been having pinches in my stomach. Then quickly they go away. I would go to the dr or er if I could, but that is not at the moment possible. I have been trying to find any written information on the internet about dark BM during pregnancy but I haven't found anything. Is it, could be, at all (heaven forbid) linked to a miscarriage?

Are you taking prenatal vitamins? Sometimes they can cause dark/discolored BM and stomach cramping like constipation. I am no medical expert, but I really hope its something super simple like this.

I had this too...and I attributed it to the iron in the prenatals (also had constipation)...Some blue food dye (yogurt, koolaid, etc) will make your BMs green--sometimes bright green!
Worst case scenerio--dark stool can mean bleeding in your intestines...maybe even due to constipation...in many cases it will correct itself.
As for the pinching...I have felt it in different areas...stomach, cervix. I thought of it is 'growing uterus stretching' pains...or 'pangs' really! Very uncomfortable.
I hope you get 'back on track' soon. Make sure you're drinking lots of water!

Why can't you get to a doctor?

Not to pry....but is there any doctor, hospital maternity ward or midwife you can call? The BM wouldn't worry me much because it could be caused by food you ate or vitamins. But you should establish prenatal care soon. Be sure to eat healthy foods (protein, fresh produce), take a prenatal vitamin, get rest....and find a care provider. Drink lots of water and rest when you get the "pinches".
Oh, also, if you have insurance, many of them have complimentary nurse lines 24/7 that you can call at no cost.
Best wishes!

You might also go search the archives in the UC section - there may have been a similar question asked over there. If you can't find something in the archives, I'd ask those ladies. They're really up on things.

As for the urgency of establishing prenatal care - some of us don't feel that push. I myself am almost 10 weeks and don't have any prenatal care yet and am not even sure that we'll be having any (although we probably will - DH isn't going to go UP when I realistically look at it). Do what you think is right for your body. If it's your financial situation that is keeping you from prenatal care and you really want it/need it, then I'd bet there are clinics or something you could go to.

I'm sorry that you're not feeling well and having doubts - I wish you the best.
