kitchen compost

What do you all use in the kitchen to store the compost before it is put in the pile? I want something that will keep the smell in but accessed easy.
Do you have something on your countertop as well as maybe under your sink?
Any input appreciated

We just have a plastic ice cream container for our food scraps. It gets emptied often so it doesn't really smell.

I got a stainless steel container for countertop from Azurestandard.com
I also use an old brita water filter container.

I use a plastic container that some organic salad greens came in. I cover it with a dish rag or a cloth napkin and keep it on the counter.

Oddly enough we use a large coffee can (a plastic one, not metal) which we bought years ago. It keeps the smell in without any issues and we empty it regularly.

I have a small metal trashcan with lid that fits under our sink. It was about $10 at Ikea. I love it since it contains odor and doesn't need to be emptied very often (but peeeuwwwwweeee does it stink when we do empty it).

We had a lovely ceramic compost crock but my teen broke it. :

Now we just use a plastic container. I have to say, though, it NEVER stinks since we empty it twice daily for our chickies, lol!

I have a plastic container with a lid, but I keep mine in the freezer so I don't have any problems with smell. Plus, it helps get things started on breaking down! :0)
