I have a dozen white cpf's that I haven't washed/fluffed yet. I'd like to dye them, but I've never dyed ANYTHING before. What's the easiest way? How do you make them colorfast?

You can always buy a tie-dye kit, that would be much easier than trying to figure it out on your own. They come w/everything you need and you'll probably have enough dye to do onesies & shirts, too!

You may want to wash the cpf's at least once in case they have any kind of sizing on them. There will be instructions, but to make them color fast... I wash mine w/vinegar.

They should have these kits in any craft store. HTH!

Matching onesies and diapies!!!! Cute! Maybe I'll make all the kids some t-shirts with the leftover dye. Great idea...thank you!

I use dylon and then throw them in the washing machine on the smallest setting. Then agitate every so often and leave them in there till they look dark enough. I also have thrown in some white onsies, socks, etc with the diapers. Mine have been pretty pastel, which is what I wanted, so if you want a more vibrant color you might not want the dye as diluted as it gets in the washing machine. It's just so easy to clean up

I used the procion dyes from Dharma Trading Company for my prefolds. After a year and countless washes they are a little faded but I think they have held up quite well. There are instructions on their website.

If you get the JoAnn Fabrics mailer and the 40% off coupon, I would just go there and get a tie dye kit. They are regularly like $14.99 (then with your coupon, like 8.50 or something like that) and you get 3 colors, rubber bands, and the stuff that makes it color fast. Totally easy, and you can tie dye not just one color on each prefold if you want.
