Hi, I was wondering what type of swaddling you ladies are using on your 5 month olds when you put him/her down to sleep at night? I'm unable to swaddle him anymore, but when I tuck the blanket underneath him at night to go to sleep I feel like he's going to kick around so much and that the blanket will end up over his little face and suffocate him. When I woke up this morning the blanket was covering half of his face, it really scares me. ANy suggestions or advice? Thanks!

I occasionally lay Lucy in her cradle next to our bed, and sometimes she does move around a bit and move the blanket... but, the days are getting warmer and blankets (at least heavy ones) are getting unnecessary!
Usually she's laying next to me while nursing (duh
we obviously need to be together to do that
) and I'll just cover her up with my blanket.
If you still need quite a bit of warmth and are concerned about blankets, how about getting something like this: http://www.babybecause.com/detail.aspx?ID=1196 that way, your babe is snuggly warm without moving blankets.

I've got Carys in an Amby Hammock so I don't have issues with her rolling or kicking. I just tuck the blanket around her and the most she does is kick it up a bit. Depending on the night she either gets a chenille blanket or a flannel crib sheet that's been folded into 4.

Blankets? What are those?
Sorry, I'm no help. It's rare that DP and I sleep under more than light sheets, and we haven't really used blankets at all on either of the girls, just lightweight PJs... actually just onesies on Amalie a lot of her first year, but she was younger when the warm weather hit and she always ran a bit hot as a baby. But even when it was chilly, a sheet or blanket would always bother her and she'd kick it off and wake up, and Moira's been the same way.

We used those blanket sleeper things. Blankets would be a joke cause she squirms sooooo much. But it's too hot here for those now.

Our baby is a furnace. I don't think he would take well to swaddling, hehe. I just pull our regular bed blankets over him and myself when we go to sleep. In the morning he tends to flail his arms and legs a bit, but oh well. Doesn't bother me that much. I'd rather that he was able to kick off the blankets when he was hot than have him wrapped up so he has to wake up and cry to let me know that he's too hot.

Funny how we're all different. We cosleep and just pull our covers up over Reed. I put my arm up above his head (and he's higher than us in the bed - closer to the headboard) so I know exactly where he is in relation to the covers. The covers only go up to the middle of his chest and don't go higher.

We cosleep, and use only a sheet. But when it was colder, we used a blanket or quilt (whatever didn't have baby poo/toddler pee/breastmilk/spit-up on it at the time) and Luka would pull it over his face. They can push things away from their face just fine at 5 mos. old if it bothers them.
