So I've been thinking I had a UTI for several weeks, but the 10 gallons of water I've been drinking daily has kept it at bay.

I finially went to the doc on saturday, got a script for amox.

By monday it was obvious it was getting worse, not better.
Called tues at like noon, again at like 2, again at like 3...and they assured me they would call in a script for macrobid instead.
DH went to pick it up for me late last night, and they'd never called!!

To add insult to injury, the abx that did nothing for the UTI gave me a nasty yeast infection (i've only had one prior when I had B.V and it's pretty normal...i've never gotten one from taking abx before!)
That had me up ALL night scratching, and all day tues applying cold washclothes to my poor sore crotch. My 2yr old thought I was a little batty

I overslept this morning, made the calls to the doc and bitched them out...
They assured me they would call ASAP about macrobid and a diflucan for the yeast.

I goto walgreens and they had JUST gotten it. :

Finially I made it to work after dropping off DS, going BACK to the walgreens...etc. Stopping TWICE to pee, because nothing is more fun than feeling like you are gonna wet yourself all day...grrr...

And in addition to all this, DH and I spent all weekend tearing out carpet from our office bedroom, pulling out tackstrips from cement, painting...etc.
I got the lovely job of being on my hands and knees 90% of the time, and cutting in all the areas...so I was up and down...up and down....squatting...

I think the pregnancy relax hormones have kicked in...because I spent a good deal of time crawling on the floor and squatting at my job (not to mention with my 2yo!) because I can barely walk...STILL!!

so i'm waddling, burning, itching, and feeling like i'm gonna wet myself.

*cries*:

Ouch!! A bladder infection or yeast infection by themselves are bad enough!! I hope you are feeling better soon.

me too!!

I feel like such a gimp! I was laying on the couch, peeing every 10 minutes, pressing cold washclothes on my sore crotch, legs aching, and I started to get some gassy cramps going on too....

I laughed and said to my dh "could anything ELSE possibly go wrong south of my waist??"

ouch! That sounds so ugly! I hope you feel better soon.

Btw, I would call your docs back and double check on whether they really intended to give you a script for diflucan. Someone just told me several days ago that you can't take it while pregnant.

As a person who suffers from persistent, ongoing bladder infections AND yeast infections combined (aren't I lucky!) : I can give you a few pieces of good advice. Some of them I'm sure you already know but here goes anyway...

Cranberry does WAY better than antibiotics when it comes to bladder infections. In the past 5 years, out of the 10+ infections I've had I've only taken antibiotics one time and that was because I was literally so infected that I was suffering from toxema. The nurse said she had NEVER seen an infection as bad as mine...again, aren't I lucky!!!
Take a good cranberry extract pill every day and as soon as you feel the slightest hint of a UTI coming on, guzzle cranberry juice like there's no tomorrow. You'll be surprised how fast you feel better. Also, to deal with the pain and discomfort, the absolutely BEST thing I've found is a little naturopathic pill called Azo. It's specifically for UTI's and it does an outstanding job of making you feel better.
For yeast infections, (and this sounds gross, but it works!) take a piece of cheesecloth and wrap up a mushed-up garlic clove. Put that up in there like you would a tampon - smells terrible, feels weird, but works great. Change every 6-8 hours, shouldn't take you more than a day or two before you feel 100% better.

For anybody that's interested (I'm sure someone is wondering why I get UTI's and yeast infections so often...) I do everything "right" and still get them. I have some digestion problems and between that and a few other things I seem permanently "out of balance" in my body. However, and this is not meant as a commercial or a plug, I will say that since I started using Herbalife's Triple Berry complex 8 mos. ago I have been UTI free every since!! Just hoping it stays that way.... :

p.s. sorry, i forgot to add that there is also an "Azo Yeast" to deal with the pain and discomfort of yeast infections...also works great!
