HELP!! My DD LITERALLY WONT Eat! OR NURSE!!! X-post

I'm pretty much freaking out.
3 days ago we were at a party and i was holding DD (almost 3) and she was eating fishies. She put her head down on me so i thought that she was just being shy but a moment later she looked up at me and started hacking and throwing up mucus. I ran outside with her and patted her back and tried to help her. She was breathing, though labored, and then finally was done choking. She was calm but drained and took a nap then woke up and ate some noodles and seemed fine.
Yesterday she was eating lo mein noodles and started choking a bit so i pulled the long strands of spaghetti out of her mouth and throat.
Though she didn't freak out, she was very weary of eating.
She didn't even want to nurse for a while than did.
Now all she wants to do is spit. Last night she didn't want to nurse to sleep (a TOTAL first). In the night she hacked and gagged and threw up milk everywhere.
She woke up nursing but whenever she tried to eat something she would say it didn't taste good and really cry about it like she wanted to eat but was mentally tormented about it.
I was trying to explain to her that it was ok to swallow things and that i understood why she may be scared but that she didn't need to worry and that see, she was swallowing milky and she was ok but then of course she stopped nursing and would only snuggle my boob.
I am so worried about this and i know i should prob. just her relax about it on her own but, like, she is not even nursing!!!!!!

She's about 3 right?

Would a treat help lure her out, as well as being comforting - something like a smoothie?

I'd tend to want to cater to her for a couple of days and see if she gets over it once she's not as shaken by the experience. If she won't nurse, will she drink through a straw? Will she eat a popsicle? Or is it absolutely totally NOTHING right now?

Nothing.
She wont put anything in her mouth. She asked for some Hylands teething tablets but started crying and wanted to spit them out as soon as they started dissolving.
She wont even eat her FAVORITES ice cream and toffuti cuties.
She just stirred from her nap and is nursing like a champ, but i worry about sustaining her. I've never had tons and tons of milk and she wont do water or juice.
She keeps asking for food "just in case" and it seems like she may have a mild fever.
I just wish it didn't seem like she was denying herself food that she otherwise wants.

Maybe try introducing the breast while she is asleep? It works for some mums during nursing strikes.

Do you think this is purely her fear over what happened earlier? Do you think there might be a physiological problem that needs checking out?

Have you asked if her mouth or throat hurt? Three is a little too old to guess at it, when she can probably tell you if it hurts or not.

If she is just afraid of throwing up again, my guess is, it will go away soon enough. But, maybe she is really sick and can't eat right now.

Is she miserable otherwise? Or just her normal self?

I've seen a ton of three-ish-year-olds with sore throats/strep that presented with similar symptoms. (Gaggy, won't eat, etc.) It might be worth having someone look at her throat. Poor kiddo.

I was kind of wondering about the strep possibility.
She is definitely sick now. She threw up again and is a bit warm.
She had a major runny nose last week but it had mostly cleared up and she was in great spirits and very active.
How does strep present itself? She really hasn't complained of any soreness in her throat or coughed at all.
Perhaps it is time for a visit to the Doc.

Have you taken her to the doctor yet?

Was the vomit ever bilious -- dark green or bright yellow?

The only symptom my son has ever had with his bouts of strep (he has several bouts a year) is a headache. He has only once or twice complained about a sore throat.

I would call her ped. She may be ill. Also she has had 2 scary choking episodes and some vomitting, so it might be worth it to ask the ped. what to try. Lots of kids have swallowing issues at some point and her doc may know some good strategies to get her to eat. How many days has it been though? She sounds like she may be getting dehydrated (feverish, listless). If she is dehydrated she will only get sicker. You do not want her to end up on IV or tube feeds. It will help her nutritionally, but will REALLY freak her out.

When my daughter got strep, it usually started with a headache. Then a tummy ache, and eventually a very very sore throat.

But, my friend's son only gets the headache, and a fever.

Thanks all for your thoughts.
She has been sleeping soundly since 8:30 (though i go in to check on her every 15 minutes!)
She hasn't complained of any headaches but she did say her belly was hurting.
Inezyv- There was a little yellow bile in her last throw up. Is that indicative of something?
Anyone know of any homeopathics or other "non invasive" remedies i can try?
-I don't think that she is up for gargling goldenseal and garlic!
The I.V. is just the scariest possibility to me.
She has had a couple of good pees, and nursed like crazy when she woke up from her nap, and i am waiting for her to stir so that i can slip a boob in there to get her some nutrients!

The continuing to gag and vomit would worry me. Perhaps she has something lodged deeper in her throat, or simply hurt her throat and doesn;t want anything touching it.

Glad to hear she is nursing. I would definitely stick to soft stuff, yogurt, mashed potatoes, smoothies, until she is feeling better.

DS just had a stomach bug last week and now DD has it. Fever, vomiting, and eventually diarrhea as well. It's possible she's getting something like that too. My DS complained of his tummy hurting as well.
