I am going crazy here...

One day i will have contractions for 6 hours, 6 minutes apart, feel a little crampy and thinking, tomorrow's maybe the day.The morning comes around and then a whole day with out a single contraction, no cramping, no ANYTHING!! I was 3cm, 75-80% effaced on Sunday and I am worn out from this back and forth stuff.It was over 90 degrees here today, I tried to spend sometime in the pool to cool off, now i am a little burnt and i feel like this baby is trying to scratch her way out: through my cervix.
Sorry to complain, I just wish if i have another few eeks or so then these crazy stop and go contractions will STOP!!!!
Anybody else have this crazy stuff going on!

I'm going through the same thing. I had cntx all day Friday (I think due to stress) then Sat. and Sun. I didn't really have much going on and now yesterday and today I've had pretty consistant cntx all day. Along w/ some cramping. I'm REALLY hoping this is gonna start something SOON and not last for another week! My DH thinks (is predicting) that I'll go into labor tomorrow night. Here's to hoping!

Thanks ecomama, good to know i am not the only one dealing with this. Last night i thought i would be in labor by now but since 6 am i have only had 5-6 contractions!It is makig me crazy but i guess i should be glad i am alreadt 3 cm.I have decided i will not have them check me again till i am ready to push.

Me too, only mine are usually 2-3 mins apart. Its exhausting. I don't think I've dilated at all, but my cervix is nice and soft. I went off bedrest a week ago and we were SURE he would come right away... nope. No labor at all after I went off bedrest, until last night when I had contraxions for about 2 hours, which is nothing compared to the 5-24 hour days of labor I was having before.
My baby is trying to scratch his way out too, its soooo painful. I have to get on my knees and elbows with pillows under me every evening, which is when he really gets going. Then, I REALLY can't breathe and it makes my knees ache like crazy, but it stops the scratching... until I lay back down or get up. I'm almost feeling like labor won't be such a bad thing, painful as it might be, because at least it will be the means to an end of all this pain that's been dragging out for so long.

I am really surprised by all thess start-stop labours! I guess I was naive because I didn't think it was so common. I just hope when mine starts, its the real thing! I don't think I could handle the anticipation and then letdown!

Come on June babies. June is ALMOST here! You can all come out now--the weather is great!

If it makes you feel any better, I am due next week, have had no contractions this entire pregnancy and as of a week ago my cervix was locked up tight!
We'll all be birthing soon, though!!!

I hear ya, littlemama. Contrax on and off for a month, and almost 24/7 since Sunday morning. They tapered off last night for me to grab some shut eye. Now they are more spread out and hurt a LOT more. I had this with both dd's, I have no clue why it happens to some mamas and not others. However, I am getting extremely annoyed, to put it mildly.

Same thing over here, mamas. I am in disbelief that I am still preggers! Last weekend, I had three nights in a row of "false" labor with ctxns 2-5min apart. I would never have guessed I would make it this far.

I figure one of two things will happen:

- it will be like with #1 where I had a few weeks of on and off labor and then, BAM! my water broke and a few hours later: baby!

or

- it will be like with #2 where a feeling settled in that this was "it" and the ctxns will slowly but surely get stronger and stronger until I feel compelled to call the midwife and a few hours later: baby!

Either way, our bodies are going to be SO READY! When the real thing hits, it will be fast and easy!

I hope it will be fast and easy. Today i have contracted every 10minutes or so since around noon, it is almost 6 here. I am a little cramp and very cranky!: It jsut wears me out!

This on and off stuff has been going on far the past three(3) weeks, that's 21 LONG days!

Same thing here. One day will have contractions (irregular) but nonetheless still contractions. Also crampy feeeling every night. Well today I had my 37th week appt. and absolutely NOTHING! I am not dialated or effaced.

I still have a few more weeks to go, but I at least thought all this action would produce something, I am also hoping for a VBAC and my body isn't ready yet and i am starting to worry. I guess I should take my midwifes suggestion and start DTD more often (like every night )

Ohh!!!! I'm so with you mamas! I've had ctxs periodically for the last month and then since last Monday almost every night and throughtout the day. I've been leaking my mucous plug since last week as well and a bunch came out today after 10 hrs of ctxs & cramping. I'm soooo ready and emotionally drained from this. With dd I had some for teh week prior and then water leakage and an 18 hr labor so I never had all of this. I feel like ds has a knife that he keeps jabbing into my cervix! I'm hoping with teh mucus loss that labor will start in the next day or so.

Im feeling very yucky today I had cxtns all day yesterday, got out and walked around, they got worse, dh checked me and I was 4cm (after being closed on wed.) and then wouldn't ya know it they fizzle out last night! Even dtd and nothing. I still feel crampy, but the strong cxtns are gone. So Im very dissappointed no baby this weekend

I hear ya, NCjen, I'm starting to feel a little desperate with my edd less than a week away, but maybe it'll just be quick and to the point for us. Some of these poor mamas have been dealing with these cxns for a while now. Here's to smooth births for all of us!

Oh, I am so sorry!! I had that with my 2cd for 8 weeks. Starting at 30 weeks, I was doing that and dilated to 2 cms. My due date was changed to two weeks sooner because of US ( I didn't know not to trust that back then). My daughter was born 3 days AFTER her original due date. Technically I had expected her for ten weeks "Any day now" at that point......

My point is, baby will come. It was a nice labor, only 8 hours from first cntrx to delivery, so hang in there!!!

HOw does your DH know how to check you??? I can't even figure out how to check myself!

I went online and googled checking cervical dilation and showed him a diagram of the cervix. Since I knew I was effaced 60% I showed him what it should look like. Then I laid on the bed and had him use 2 fingers (tmi) feel around, and envision what the cervix looked like. I could tell when he got to the cervix cuz I could feel hiim touching me, he knew it too cuz he got this "ahaa" look and swept his finger from side to side and he said both of his fingers slipped inside "another hole" I then compared his 2 fingers to the dilation chart and they measure between 3-4cm. HTH

mommy2girlies you are better than i cause i refuse to check it myself--i suck! but maybe i will do the google thing to find out what it is supposed to look like.

i don't think this baby is ever coming out. i think i have lost all my plug now and have been 3 cm dilated, 80% effaced as of last wednesday. my midwife doesn't think i'll go to monday but i keep having 2 or 3 contractions and then nothing... come out already baby!!! of course, i'm due tomorrow so technically we aren't late but still...: this has been going on for weeks and i could have sworn i was gonna go yesterday.... i wanna see my baby!!!!

Paddington -- Sounds like you and I are in the same boat. Same thing for me exactly and I'm due Monday. A few contractions, crampiness, diahrrea, etc. then nothing! I'm ready!!

i'm really hoping this happens today.... we shall see.. woke up at 1:30 with contractions that were 6 minutes apart. but after a couple hours it pettered out... then started up again around 6:30 but only for like 45 minutes. hubby stayed home and we are going to really start walking around to see if this babe will come today--or at least soon. i really wish it would either start or just have nothing happen! this getting hopes up thing is depressing.:
