Anyone have specific info about vit K drops?

I've been talking with a nursery nurse at the hospital where I'll be giving birth, and she's been looking into getting drops instead of injectable K. This is new for them. The perinats and nurse did some research, and came up with little info. She did say that the oral drops they found are not made for infants, and contain alcohol and preservatives that they are not comfortable giving to a baby. So they've been very cooperative, but I was wondering if there's some info I could provide them with that may help.
Thanks!

For my homes births my CPM used an oral form that she got from a naturopath it was on oil base and she just put a few drops in the mouth.

I do know that the studies conducted on the vit. k shot weren't conducted on babies who had received colostrum. If you are planning on bf-ing colostrum is very high in vit k. You might want to forgo it altogether.

For my hospital births I insisted on oral vit. k (Dr Mendelsohn says the shot is useless if not harmful) and they gave ds's iv form of vit. k orally. I don't know about the alchohol, they never mentioned it. Hope this helps...

This is the product I use when families want oral vitamin k. It has a short shelf life (several months) and needs to be refridgerated after opening. It is oil-based, not alcohol-based.

One thing about oral vit. k is that the dosage is supposed to be repeated two more times after the initial dose, so in order to follow the protocol, she would have to get a supply to give at home (maybe she could just supply the vit. to the hospital itself and then take home the remaining amount).
