Birth Tub in Hospital

I'm interested in laboring in a birth tub in a hospital. Do any Austin hospitals come equipped with tubs? Has anyone had any luck renting a tub? I'm not wanting to deliver in the tub. I just want to labor in one. Thank you.

Likely every hospital is different and you'll have to inquire about their facilities. I'm in CT, and the hospital we chose has a (one) tub to labor in, but doesn't have the room for birthing tubs without an extensive remodel. However, we were able to rent one and bring it in -- they're storing it in one of their offices for 5 weeks or until I have this baby, and reserving the one suite they have that's big enough to set the tub up in. So they've been very accomodating, but I never would have known I could do this if I hadn't asked.

In our hospital (in WA) we have enormous birth rooms and have jacuzzis in every room, but a lot of people do rent tubs too.

Wow, I never even thought of renting a tub to take to the hospital! Neat idea!

The hospital I delivered DS at technically has a birthing tub that was installed when they remodeled the LDR stuff. I know about this because my best friend's husband is one of the architects that worked on it. However, if you ask them, they don't tell you the tub is there. And I've heard since then that they made that room into a doctor's or nurse's lounge. :
