SHE has EVERY RIGHT to refuse *any and every* medical treatment that *she* feels is not in the best interest of herself or her child. HER RIGHT TO DO THIS IS PROTECTED BY FEDERAL LAW! I recently researched into this. They *can* call cps, but ditto the pp who said they are gonna have a tough time proving that formula is better than bm AND going DIRECTLY against the parents orders.
I did check my son out AMA (transfered homebirth). They did call CPS while I was in the hospital, but cps didnt talk to me AND my baby was NEVER out of my or DH's sight. We refused all the "standard" new born care, and I had refused the GBS test.
I would contact an attorney immediately, I would also force the issue, by whatever means necessary (threatening a lawsuit, ama, WHATEVER) because formula IS NOT better for babies, and could contribute to long term issues with breastfeeding (latch, nipple confusion, allergies etc).
I havent had a c/s but I had an ectopic pg removed last fall, with a similar incision at my hairline as a c/s, and recovery SUCKS. I cant imagine this stress on top of it.
