Grapevines, what do I do with them?

I have found that we have quite a bit of grapevines growing on our land and I would love to do something with them. They are in really tall grass now and I am pretty sure that isn't how they should be. What can/should I do with them? Cut down the grass? Put up a fence? I know nothing about them.

The Iowa State Extension office has several booklets on growing grapes. The Wisconsin State Extension might have something similar.
