It's in!! I dug out all 6 garden patches and filled it with mushroom composte and other good stuff. I squared it off and started planting last night. So far I have disscovered that beets to not like to be transplanted. All 2 squared just wilted to nothing. I think because there's really not much of a root. The onions are hanging on and the leeks are doing well. The tomato and pepper plants took right away to their spot. The squashes seem to be doing well too. The cabbages are hanging in. The celery root is happy. The corn is happy and so are the flowers. Now, lets see if the seeds sprout. I planted bush beans, cucumbers, carrots, radishes, basil, dill, thyme, and parsley by seed.

Question...how do I tend the seeded patches? Should I make sure they are kept nice and moist until the sprout? I have never planted seeds outside before. I think I will have to plant the beets by seed next time.

This is my experimental garden. This year I will see what grows and what does not. I have already had to move the greens to planter boxes. They were not happy in the sun. The bok choy, swiss chard and kale are happy in the shady part beside the deck (the only shady part).
