We're thinking of moving back East sometime and are trying to focus our search. For many reasons, I'm attracted to a part-time hs program (1-2 days a week, 2-5 hours). Does anyone know of any good programs in New England (we're fairly open to locales)?

My mom gave me this for Christmas and I absolutely love it. Gorgeous illustrations and very sweet ideas inside. Plus it's just structured enough so that I can be creative about what I include...

This book feels good in your hands. The paper is heavyweight, and the illustrations flow perfectly.

Are you thinking of something like a Sudbury School? They were founded in Massachussets and have offshoots in serveral New England States.

Not from what I've read about those. They seem more full-time. Out here in California there are several places that have 1-2 day a week programs that include things such as drama, writer's circles, sports, arts, etc. Having a regular, routine thing for us is good. We take a lot of classes, but it is often hard to have the continuity of kids or the "downtime" of just play with those kids. We have a hs coop, but it is a lot of work to keep it going. Anyway, just wondering if such a program exists in the NE area

There's Voyagers Inc. in Acton, MA. It's a very busy and interesting co-op which many people get very involved in. You can sign up for one, two or three days a week, I think. I can't remember their website's address but google them and you'll find them. I decided against joining because we already had a lot of stuff going on, but I thought it was very, very cool. The kids range from pre-school through high school age. Some of the activities are open to all ages (including most of the classes - you can take algebra at 6 or beginning writing at 13 if it suits you to do so), and some are limited to certain ages, for example teen game night.
There's also Mystic River Learning Center in Watertown, MA, which is smaller but runs in a similar kind of way. You can sign up for a particular day, but this one also lets you take a class without actually joining.

I know you are not even close but to those in Oregon or Washington we have a place called the Village:

I have not been as my son is not even 4 yet, and just like to run around like a crazy man!
