some confusion between my kid's father and myself ~

we're in California. we are homeschooling.

we have both read the exact same information on the private school forms and things...

but we both have interpreted them differently.

the way i read them ~ we need to file, even if we're just homeschooling one of our children right now.

the way HE read them ~ we DON'T need to file anything with the state, we just need to have the information on hand.

i'm really confused as to what forms we need... what testing (if any??) my son needs to go through... and if he will actually be exempt!

all of the other homeschooling parents that i know personally around here are just using the local charter school, so they are absolutely no help (because none of this applies to them)...

How old is your son? If he will be 6 by Dec. 2, you have to file. He legally needs to be enrolled in a school, so what you're doing is creating a school and then notifying the state of its existence. You don't need to notify the state of his name, or anything like that, and you don't need to test. The HSC website is a good place to get info.
