sewing with suede cloth

Just a quick question: Does suede cloth fray in the wash? I got some to use for the inners of my pocket diapers. If I leave edges of it exposed around the pocket part in the back will it fray? Do I need to fold it under and sew it down? One more question for anyone who may know, the suede cloth has a slick side and a soft side--the soft side should go against baby's bum right? I've decided it's safer to ask first rather than do it wrong.

Yes, soft side to baby.

Ummm, I can't remember if it will fray... I don't think so though. Did you pre-wash? That'd tell you.

Yes, the soft side goes toward the baby, and No, it won't fray in the wash. I would recommend prewashing any colors you have just in case the dye bleeds a little bit. I've had some colors (red, blue) that bled dye and none of the others have. I think you will probably want to fold the raw edge down & sew it just to give it a more finished look. While the suedecloth won't fray, the exposed edge might start looking a little "rough" after all of that washing. HTH!
