Had a scare last night!

Thread Starter
I had a pretty bad scare last night! I was sitting at the computer and thought that I had peed a bit in my pants (got to love a full bladder!). Well when I went to the bathroom there was a bunch of blood. I looked in the toilet and there were 2 fairly large clots in the toilet (sorry TMI). I called my husband right away and he came home (he was at work) and called the OB on call. She said that I should go to the ER. So we went to the ER and they did the normal intake stuff and put me in the room. The nurse came in and used the doppler and tried to find the heartbeat! SHE FOUND IT AND IT WAS STRONG AT 171! The doctor then came in and did an ultrasound and found the baby right away! Everything looks good and the heartbeat was consistent through out the ultrasound. I have to be on bedrest all weekend and see my OB on Monday. I will keep everyone posted. The bleeding stopped last night also.... I was going : last night also!

Oh man, thank goodness the baby is OK. Did they have any ideas what was causing the bleeding?

You sound so calm Mama. I hope the bleeding doesn't recurr.

Take it easy and keep us posted OK?

never stress til you find out

Same thing happened to me a mth ago the cn find the baby or a heartbeat so i had to go 2 weeks in a row to just make sure the hormone levels were going up, luckily they were, she said it is just that everything is so sensitive down there any thing even coughing can make you bleed in some cases. I hope all goes as well for you. I went in this week cn find a heart beat still, did a sono and it was all because the baby is just moving too much! ! married with 2 1/2 yr old son , nb due on x-mas!!!!

I had super heavy bleeding/clotting like that w/ dd2 who was born 100% healthy at 39w. 9lb7oz, so who knows why our bodies do wacky things. Glad to hear your little one is doing well.

How are you today?

It sounds like a subchorionic bleed. I had one at 9 weeks with this pregnancy and it absolutely scared the crap out of me. I was positive I had lost the baby. but the next day on ultrasound all was fine!

Sometimes when the placenta forms, a small pocket of blood can form between the placenta and the uterine wall. That blood can be released, causing bright red bleeding and clots. Just FYI, it can happen again, so be mentally prepared for that.
