new to the allergy world...

DD has a patch of eczema on her hand (at least as near as I can tell, that's what it is). When I think back, she has had other patches here and there.

She's also had red dots around her mouth lately...sometimes spreading around her neck.

These are probably indications of allergies, right? What is the best way to go about testing what it can be? She's a very spirited 20mo and loooooooves all kinds of food. It can turn into a real battle when we try to hold food back from her.

Also- are things going to get worse if we don't figure this out?

Anyone?

I have no answers, but my dd is exactly the same way, only it is on her toes and face, not her hands and face. I will be keeping an eye on this thread!

hmmm, still nursing plenty? Are the spots always there or do they come and go? If they come and go have you tried keeping a journal to try to pinpoint a cause?

they come and go, sometimes little pinpoints, sometimes blanket red rash.

we've started keeping a journal, but haven't noticed any correlations yet. How long does it usually ake for something like that o show up after eating something you're allergic to?

She kind of grazes all day so I'm not always sure which 'meal' started it off.

AFAIK, there are no allergies in the family, although recently when we were talking about allergies, MIL mentioned her tongue felt numb when she ate peanuts ("think that's an allergy?" she asks :sigh: )

Thanks for helping me try to figure this out!

Eczema is almost always related to allergies, and almost always starting in the digestive system. I don't recommend blood or skin testing, as that is not the usual way we take in food! You could try a dynamometer: this is a device (they range in complexity) that measures muscle strength in the presence of a suspected allergen.

Most NAET practitioners have access to a dynamometer or can do muscle testing by hand. A few will even have a computer than can read the electrical impulses in the hand and how they change in the presence of certain allergens. If you can find one of these, that's your best bet.
