A friend that I work with just gave me a chunk of her raspberry bush....what do I do with it? Just throw it in the ground & hope for the best?

This book feels good in your hands. The paper is heavyweight, and the illustrations flow perfectly.

Yup. They're brambles and pretty resilient. Just stick it in the ground and water it.

Yep. Shouldn't have any problems with it.
I was given a start once, we drove 8 hours with it in the summer, got it in a pot the next day (was living with my parents and my dad didn't want it spreading).
Then my mom got a new dog... And it spent the next year chewing the heck out of this poor little raspberry plant. Once the dog quit chewing on it, it flourished beautifully. After I moved out, my dad decided to actually plant it in the ground, and it is gigantic and beautiful now.

They like sun and decent soil. Mine are in mostly shade and crummy soil (the only soil in the yard I haven't gotten around to amending yet), and they still bear well! Have fun with it!
