What should I be working on?

Here is my stash so far:
AIO
xs 2 true, 3 pocket
s 2 true, 3 pocket
m 1 true , 2 pocket

fitted- 9s, 1newborn (needs aplix)
PUL covers - 2 and 1 polyester
fleece covers - 1
soakers/doublers - 4
prefolds - 5infant, 2 premie
wool covers - 3
snappis - 2

Total - 24 and 3 covers

on the way 12 prefolds, 2 wool covers

Now what I am wondering is what I should be making. I just got the DD AIO pattern and I love it! I've made one AIO and one fitted so far, but I ran out of aplix. (Should be here some time this week.) So whatever I make it will probably be with this pattern.

But should I be making newborn sizes (up to 14 lbs) or should I start smalls (10-20) and should I be concentrating on fitteds or AIOs?: I know I wont have time to sew much after the baby is born.

I am so confused that I have kind of stalled. I would like to go ahead and get as much done before the baby as possible (due August 12th.)

I know I asked alot of questions and in kind of a rambling way, so here's a quick re-cap:
What style should I be making AIO or fitteds?
And which size should I concentrate on?
What can you see that my stash is missing?
And any other advice?

Thanks in Advance!

I'd make more fitteds rather than AIOs but it's personal preference and while I like the AIO feature for being out or for non-cloth diapering family members, they are time intensive, and take a while to dry, not re-usable (like a cover), etc.

Size - you'll want several of all of them but babies grow out of newborn lightening fast and smalls too, though not as quickly... mediums are the size to have a lot of b/c babies stay in that size for a LONG time (months and months) and I've found they wear that size the longest out of any of them.

Missing pieces...
(so you have 13 newborn diapers (xs, infant, premie) sizes; 14 smalls; 3 mediums right? I can't tell what sizes your covers are...)

What I am making for myself is at least 24 of each size... I have some prefolds so that helps too b/c I don't have to make all those diapers (I don't think I'll have time before the baby is here : ). I want at least 5 covers for each size too. I have some longies and wool covers I'm doing as well but those are more "nice extras" for me rather than typical stashing.

If I were to suggest anything for you, I'd be sure I had my newborn and small stash done... then you can take the time between now and when you need a new size to make the mediums, but you won't have enough time to do the newborn/small stuff or supplement it with a new baby.

Does that help?

All of my covers are sizes that are supposed to be both newborn and small. I think thats causing me some problems as well, because its hard to know what is going to fit my baby.

I got another wool cover finished since I posted the list. And I ordered a few more prefolds (8).

I've already cut out some stuff, so here is my to make list:
2 newborn aio
4 newborn fitteds
3 small aio
10 small fitteds
2 or 3 wool covers (these are already cut out, I had too much fun at Goodwill)

extras: mama pads, breast pads, and 2 wet bags

What do you think? I will probably be using mostly prefolds and covers in the newborn sizes, and then move on to smalls. I have tons of fabric and PUL so I should be pretty well stocked to make whatever I need.

Thanks any and all advice is greatly appreciated. I am feeling so overwhlemed right now.:

(Now I wish I were home right now so I could start sewing. The in-laws house can get pretty boring. )

Yup, I agree. I'd stick to just a couple AIO's, and mostly fitteds with covers, as you can use covers over again if they're not too poopy (my kid pooped on her covers every time, but sometimes it was just a tiny drop on a gussett, and I'd take a wash cloth and scrub it so I could use it again and save the laundry! But all in ones only ever get used once, so it's kind of a waste of laundry soap and fabric, if you ask me!

Now, depending on how often you're planning to do laundry, I'd say a min of 6-8 covers per size, esp in newborn and small size, when they have the runniest poop (assuming you'll be breastfeeding?). I keep a min of 24 diapers, as well, per size.

In the newborn I usually keep 24, as they seem to poop more.

In the smalls, 18-24.

In the mediums 24-30 (pp was right, you want more of these as you'll most likely be in these for the longest time, and it's not bad to rotate some out to help them last a little longer.

Back to 24 for larges. My dd was so small a kid that she never got here, my ds was in them for about six months before he potty trained himself one day (saw his sister pee on the pot, said, "hey! I wanna do dat!", did, and never looked back!

Now this all depends, too, on how often you plan to do laundry. If it's every 2-3 days (which is how I did it) this system should work for you (probably closer to 2 days). If you're hoping to make it stretch longer, go for 6-12 more of each size, and probably another 4 covers. But in general, this number should work (did for me and most of my friends, anyway).

Oh, and I have three wet bags, one in the cupboard for flu days(!) (prefolds make great puke catchers and clean-er-uppers!), one in the bucket, and one in the wash.

I'd use a couple of wool out of that 6-8 covers, and the others pul or fleece. I'd use the wool at night and/or on car rides. In the end, if you have a heavy wetter, I'd go to salvation army and get some wool sweaters and make a bunch more wool covers, and get some hemp fleece and make some doublers with it. That's what we had to do w/dd, as she has a bladder the size of a small lake, and flooded her bed almost every night until we figured out this system!
