Ummmm...I just had what may have been the world's best strawberry shortcake. I picked soooooo many strawberries from my little border that I had enough to freeze for smoothies (a ton of smoothies...), and tonight I made strawberry shortcake from scratch with the reddest, ripe-est, juiciest strawberries one could imagine, picked still warm from the sun and plopped into the bowl. Mmmmmm. It tastes like SUMMER!
And I'll get enough in the next few days, too, to make other yummy stuff. I have to say, though, that this may have been the ultimate summer dessert, right here in the beginning. I'll have to work pretty darn hard to beat it!
Next week come the strawberries from the CSA, too. It'll be jam time!
