Losing Mucous Plug

I just started losing my mucous plug this morning but am still not due for another two weeks. I have been having a lot of cxtns and cramping lately. I guess my body is getting ready.

How long does it normally take for labor to begin after losing the plug?

Mama to Alexis 8/1/03 and expecting baby Dylan 6/22/06

I lost mine in my first pg two weeks before.

This time, I didn't lose it till I was in labor.

I've read that it can be up to two weeks before labor, but anytime in between too. How exciting!

The plug can regenerate, so technically it could mean nothing, but adding in the fact that you're only two weeks out and you're contracting it probably won't be more than a week?

I didn't lose mine with DS1 until I had been on a max dosage pit drip for over 24 hours. So, I would be shocked if I lost it this time before labor.

How exciting!

I've been on the look out for mine.

I lost mine w/ dd when my labor 1st started on the 5th and I labored the whole next day and then had her early on the 7th.

with ds, i lost it the day labor started and like ecomama, i had him 2 days later. with this one, i lost my plug on saturday but so far haven't gone in to labor. though it is definitely exciting, unfortunately it is not a sure sign of anything. and i was really hoping too. *sigh*

Yeah don't get too excited, mine started falling out almost two weeks ago and my baby is still definitely inside.

With my first I lost it just before I started pushing during labor.

With this one I lost it in bits and pieces over a week long period, the second to last week of April, that was what like 6 weeks ago? I assume it regenerated, though at the time it was pretty scary coupled with contractions.

Don't get too excited, as others have said, there's so much variation with the mucous plug it really can't indicate when labor will start.
