How many of you still nurse toddlers in public ?

I don't but I still nurse my son and he's almost 2. He nurses at home anywhere except outside. My son is so busy outside that he isn't even requesting nursing. But as soon as we home or as soon as he gets home from grandma's he requests it

I try not to nurse my 3 year old in public for several reasons, but I will do if he really needs it. The last time I nursed him in public was a month ago in an airport and on the airplane.

I nurse my 19mo in public. I wish more people felt comfortable doing it. If more people saw toddlers nursing it might not be viewed as such a strange, unusual thing.

I nurse my 18 mo in public in a sling when she asks. She usually doesn't ask though because she is so distracted by all the other things going on

I nurse my 21 month old in public whenever he wants it.

I nursed my ds in public until he stopped at age four. dd is only 13 months and I don't think twice about nursing in public. Oddly enough, I get all flustered when I have to nurse in someone's house.

i nurse my 16 month old whenever he wants to - usually at the end of grocery errands at the food coop. he doesn't often want to nurse in public but he does so more now than a few months ago.

ds is almost 19 months. he still nurses all over the place. it's less common than it used to be for him to want boob when we are out and about, but he still does ask for it and i still give it to him in restaurants, the gym, the park, the sidewalk, etc.

: Same here. Wonder why that is? Maybe because I was raised to respect the rules of another person's home, kwim?

I nurse my 18 month old in public when she asks. And I'm 39+ weeks pregnant. That gets some looks.

The last time I NIP'd my son(who weaned at just over 4 years old) was when he was 3 1/2 - but before that it had been quite awhile since he had wanted to nurse in public - I don't remember it much after about 2, other than at parks during playgroups where everyone was nursing babies and toddlers (he'd see the other kids and decide it was time for him too, but he rarely asked). I don't remember the last time DD NIP'd - by the time she was 18 months old, she had mostly dropped all feedings aside from before sleep - so it was probably somewhere around then. She weaned around her 2nd b-day. DD2 is only 8 months, and I nurse him in public pretty much anytime we're out.

DS is 2 and we NIP pretty often -- probably at least once a day on average.

I was just thinking about this the other day, as I was sitting in church nursing my 14.5-month-old, who kept pulling my shirt up to expose my entire breast and side. When my older dd started doing that sort of thing, I felt embarrassed! I kept fighting to keep the shirt down. Now that I have NIPed a 4.5-year-old, it is so much easier. I figured, "Heck, let them notice -- see, look at me, I'm nursing a child of a socially acceptable age!"

Dd is 28 months and we NIP if she wants to. Very often she forgets when we are out but I still sometimes remind her if it is too long time since last nursing.

Nursed my 3 yo ds at a bluegrass concert and on the walk home on a bench outside a closed hair salon.

I feel more nervous about it here in KY rather than when I lived in WA state and I do try to not be noticed but...when ds wants to nurse he wants to nurse so...

However, I do try to make sure he is focused on nursing not just hanging out casually on the nipple while looking around.

I nurse my 15 month old in public once in a while. He's so busy now that it just doesn't come up as often as it used to. It doesn't bother me yet although I never see mom's NIP here. QDB, it's funny you say you were less nervous in WA state. I live in WA and sometimes I feel like no other nursing moms go out in public. Everytime I go to the mall, EVERY baby there has a bottle!
