I have had a previous loss & really want to have a sonogram done soon. I am officially 5 weeks & 1 day Would you think that 7 weeks would be okay or should I wait until 8???

I guess I am lucky- I signed up for a study with a local university here that is studying miscarriage and uterine fibroids (I have had neither). I am in the control group! So, I get an ultrasound next week at 6 weeks. I had one last time with DS at that stage to "date the pregnancy". I say, if it puts your mind at ease, do it!

When I was pregnant with my son I had one done at 6 weeks because of bleeding. I understood that's the first good time to check the heartrate. Take care

They expect to find a heartbeat around 6 weeks. After 8 weeks, once a normal rate heartbeat is found, the odds of miscarriage go down to about 5%. So if you can wait until 8 weeks, and only want one ultrasound, that would provide the most reassurance.

THANKS BETH! I did not know that statistic! If I wasn't in this study, I would have one at 8 weeks just for the piece of mind. However, I have to follow the study guidelines and they want the U/S at 6 weeks.
