Till the birds come home...?

Goldfinches! I have a green wizard rudbekia that is for some reason (I think it's cause it's at the bottom of a downspout, and the warm water off of the house all spring made it go hogwild!) already in seed. I just looked out my window to admire my evening primrose that started to go crazy this morningand saw a flock of beautiful gold finches on the rudbekia, eating the seeds and singing away. Do you think a bird bath would help keep them around until the rest of the coneflowers bloom later in the summer? Or should I just get another finch feeder (I have one in the back yard that some red finches just love)?

Also, when do humming birds come home to Michigan? I had at least one that feasted last year (on coral bells, penstemon, runner beans, honey suckle, and of all things, my climbing rose "joseph's coat"), several times daily in my garden. Most of those things are now in full bloom, and no humming bird to be seen. I miss seeing him when I'm reading the paper and drinking my tea in the morning!

Thanks, all!

I don't get a lot of finch action in my bird bath, they stick to the finch feeder. Seems like the bath is mostly robins, sparrows, bluejays and once a little kestrel! THAT was pretty sweet. So I vote for the finch feeder.
Not sure about the hummers. Might be later in the year since it's still spring-ish. We used to get them on our butterfly bush (which I think I may have killed this year) and I think my neighbor has a humingbird feeder.

Don't know about MI hummingbirds, but we have them here in western WI already.
