I need diaper advice...

I'm totally confused by the diapering forums, so I'm hoping someone here can help me figure out Fuzzi Bunz sizing. (I just feel more at home here!)

I want to order some FBs for M. We've tried a medium which is kind of tight around his 12-inch thighs (on the loosest snaps). We've borrowed a large from a friend, which fits better (on the second-to-tightest lower snap, tightest upper snap). I want them to last a while, and I'm worried that when M starts crawling his thighs will thin a bit and the large will be drooping off him. They don't need to be super snug; we EC and don't need our diapers to hold in poops, just catch the occasional errant pee. For this we do use a triple folded newborn-size prefold, no snappi, next to M's skin (not in the pocket) and the diaper should be tight enough to hold the PF *generally* in place.

I know we've got some seriously chunky monkeys in this group. Anybody have experience with them slimming down as they become mobile? Did it affect how their diapers fit, and did you have to move back to a smaller size? TIA

DS2 was like that. I put Petite Toddlers on him and then when he slimmed down, he went back into mediums for awhile. Now he would wear larges on the second snap setting if he wasn't now allergic to the fleece...

Luka is on the 2nd from the last snap on the thighs on medium FBs, the tighest around the waist. His thighs seem to be thinning out a tiny bit now that he is crawling and standing.
Julian was a very skinny baby, but got chunky as a toddler (I know, he's always doing things backwards). However he is skinny again now and can fit a medium FB on the loosest snaps- he is 36 lbs. and 39-40".
