help! bleach recovery!

Ok,, I am pretty sure it is a lost cause..but my sons chore this morning was cleaning the bathroom, and I hadn't realized he grabbed my bottle of bleach I had in the shower ( for mildew) and used it all over the counter, didn't wipe it up,,it was apparently just puddled there, because when I leaned in to wash my hands, I unknowingly bleached big blotches on the front of my brand new favorite oversized sweatshirt that my Father in law gave me!

So is it possible to dye over a bleached area? any ideas? I would love to somehow make my sweatshirt look decent in some way again, so that it isn't left as my curl up in sweats at home shirt!

In jr. high, I had a skirt which had a shirt to match it. It was one of those, this is the only shirt in the world that would ever look good with this skirt.

My mom kindly got bleach all over it. I was extremely unkind to her about this. She fixed it by dyeing the shirt back to one color.

I would give it a try. What is the worst thing that could happen, the stay at home shirt is even funkier?

I had a pair of great dress slacks that got bleach splashed on them, and here's what was suggested to me (and it worked): go to the art supply store and find some ink pens of similar colors, and then just color in the white spots!

As has been said: if it doesn't work, well, at least you're not gonna ruin it again.

Good luck!

I've had good luck with fabric markers. I've tried dyeing over bleached areas, but if the color was a dark one to begin with the light area will still show through the dye.

Just wanted to tell you that instead of bleach for your mildew you can use vinigar. I use it! Yes, it stinks, but it is safe and the smell quickly fades within a few hours.
