Luka's first food was chili!

Luka is 5.5 mos. and has been EBF until just now...
I was making myself dinner, and my partner brought Luka into the dining room and put Luka into his high chair, which is the kind that hooks onto the table. Of course, since Luka SURELY TO GOD is not old enough to climb out of the seat, Robert didn't buckle him in. I turned around a minute later to see...

He had stood up, reached across the table, and grabbed a handful of (vegetarian) chili from his big brother's bowl!
We all thought it was pretty funny, but I sure hope he's not allergic to soy or tomatoes! Or wheat, if he managed to swallow a spaghetti noodle!
Robert thinks we should let him have solids now. I'm in favor of waiting the remaining 13 days and making sure we buckle him in.

Phew, no reaction so far. Now that I'm over my worrying, I'm just sad I didn't get a picture.
That would be insane if a baby said chili! His first (and only) word is dada. It's very cute.

Julian said "mama" around 6 mos. and Luka just started saying "dada" at 5.5 mos. but I don't know what average is. Julian seemed to do everything pretty much around the avg. time (sat at 5 mos., crawled at 8-9 mos., walked at 12 mos., etc) so I tend to go by what he did. Even though his first word was at 6 mos., he didn't use 2 word sentences until he was 22 mos. which is kind of late. Before that he had maybe 30 words and about 10-20 signs.
My friend's 6 mo. old is signing! Which is very cool, I think. I need to start signing with Luka. Maybe he can learn to give us the finger for denying him food.
