Anyone know when the growth slows down?

Kate just hadn't gained any weight it seems in weeks and weeks. She has been 14 pounds, I think, for 2 months.

I am headed back to her 6 month appt on Tuesday, and she passed more blood in her dipe yesterday.

I attribute that to the first glass of milk I had recently, since it takes about 5 days to pass out of the system, and I guess she still doesn't tolerte it well.

Anyway, I read that the growth spurt slows down sometime the first year. When is that?

But, other than the bloody diaper, I feel like Kate is very healthy and showing remakable mental and physical growth. I am worried about her gut, though and her ability to absorb the BM.

Luka's growth has definitely slowed down, he's been about the same weight (19-20 lbs) since 4 mos. He's grown an inch or two, though.
I know some babies are roughly the same weight from about 6 mos. til into their toddlerhood- 12-18 mos. Julian sure was! He only weighed 18 lbs. at 1 yr.

i'm not sure what ava's weight has been doing, but i do know that there are no absolutes in child development. some babies have a slow, gradual trajectory...others jump up in big spurts and then do nothing for months. the most important thing at this early stage of development are the things that you said she's fine in. reaching milestones (cognitive, physical, emotional) and eating/peeing/pooping normally (normal for them). it seems you have a handle on what the bloody stool is related to, so as long as you just stay aware of that i'm sure she's fine!

Yes, keep in mind that weight is only one measure of growth. Like everyone is saying, the overall picture is what is important. I can understand your worry with blood in her stool. Hopefully you will find the cause. What is the little voice in your head saying? Hugs.

I was in the emergency room recently (twice in 3 weeks ) with severe stomach pain I've had off and on since I was a child, and the hospital suggested I get tested for Celiac Disease. They gave me some literature, and in it they write that one of the symptoms to look for in children and babies is bloody stools and poor weight gain.
I'm not saying your baby has this disease, but I thought I would mention it. I thought of you...
It's a genetic condition apparently, and there are a few blood tests that can easily diagnose the condition. You can't stop eating gluten before the test or it won't come out accurately.

Anyway... I know you've been worried about Kate's weight gain...
