Michael Gabriel was born this a.m., Saturday, June 10, at 4:15 a.m. Mom and baby are doing well. I was honored enough to be there. I'm sure she'll update when she can.

Oh it was tough work mamas! Turns out he was sunny side up - ouch! But all things considered...not a bad birth. And he is perfect! http://home.comcast.net/~ldenja/Mikey.JPG

My water broke at 9:20pm on his due date (6/9) and ctx started right after. Filled the birth tub at 10pm and put the kids to bed. The ctx were pretty frequent from the get go (every 2-5 minutes) but only got really intense aroun 11pm. My friend Amy (who posted for me!) got here about then and MWs got here at around midnight.

Really painful labor from about 1am until he was born (again, posterior!) I was in and out of the birth tub, up and down the stairs, etc. After not doing much with my pushing in the tub, the MW brought me out to our futon to check me and see if anything was holding him up - I ended up delivering there. (DH jokes that he was born in the same place he was conceived! LOL)

It was great - DH and my mom and my best friend were all holding my hands and encouraging me. MWs were helping me deliver. My dad actually video taped (poor guy - I think he's wounded for life after seeing his daughter "in all her glory" like that as he says - LOL) and we got my oldest two girls up just after he was born. They were enthralled.

I hemorraged and lost a lot of blood. My BP really dropped and so the post partum was really rough. I passed out and at one point, we were close to ambulance transport b/c I was so weak. But after peeing all over myself in my bed (nice!) I made a total 180 and ended up healing myself b/t my midwife and her midwife helpers so all is well again. I'm taking floridex for my newfound anemia and eating beef liver and odwalla superfood ... yum - so appetizing just hours post partum

Anyway...that's the gist of the story...prayers for all you mamas still waiting - especially those in prodromal labor. Hang in there!

Thanks for all the well wishes!
